Objectives: The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge/competence, and upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
  • Discuss how we arrived at the place of the opioid epidemic and where we are now, as well as the scope of the current problem
  • Clarify 2016 CDC Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids For Chronic Pain
  • Address the specific needs and how to address unmet needs for chronic pain patients
  • Delineate the significance of behavioral health for pain management
  • Recognize the stigma associated with opioid use disorder and have resources for speaking with patients

Target Audience: This course is planned and designed interprofessionally by physicians, nurses and pharmacists. This course is designed for primary care physicians, pain management specialists, nurses, pharmacists, case managers and family practitioners.
