Objectives:
The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge/competence, and upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Discuss how we arrived at the place of the opioid epidemic and where we are now, as well as the scope of the current problem
- Clarify 2016 CDC Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids For Chronic Pain
- Address the specific needs and how to address unmet needs for chronic pain patients
- Delineate the significance of behavioral health for pain management
- Recognize the stigma associated with opioid use disorder and have resources for speaking with patients
