Educational Grants, Sponsorships and Exhibits

Educational Grants/Sponsorships

If this activity is supported by educational grants or sponsorships from pharmaceutical or medical device companies, please review their requirements to comply with The Sunshine Act/Open Payments and note what the company will be requesting from you. If they indicate that they will require NPI (National Provider Identifier) and/or state license numbers of the physician participants, you will need to collect and provide that information to the company.

Each company providing financial support with an educational grant or sponsorship must submit a Letter of Agreement (LOA) or contract outlining requirements and commitments. Many companies have their own forms, if not, use the provided ACCME/WU approved agreements below.

All funding received for activities within Washington University in the form of educational grants must be sent to CME for deposit. ** Notify CME if you are expecting educational grants, include a copy of the signed LOA and upload a copy to the session/activity. ** Access to the fund will be given to a representative from your department to process expenditures incurred for the activity through the multi-departmental authorization function. The documents processed by the department representative will be routed to CME for approval to assure that the expenditure relates to the activity. At the end of the activity, your department is responsible for reconciling with the grantor and, if stated in the original letter of agreement, returning any unused portion of the educational grant to the grantor.
