Objectives: The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge/competence, and upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
  • Identify the meanings of meditation and mindfulness and how together they can affect the brain and the body.
  • Discuss neuroplasticity and how it is a common denominator of meditation, mindfulness, mind body medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Explain how meditation, mindfulness and mind body medicine can be used to help treat specific medical conditions.
  • Describe potential benefits of meditation, mindfulness and mind body medicine for healthcare providers.

Additional Information: Target Audience: This course is designed for geriatricians, family and emergency physicians and nurse practitioners. May also be of interest to physician assistants and other allied health professionals who encounter geriatric patients in a health care setting.
