Richard C. Senelick, MD
Dr. Senelick is a physician specializing in both neurology and the subspecialty of neurorehabilitation. He is the Editor in Chief of HealthSouth Press, the publishing arm of one the nation's largest rehabilitation hospital systems. Dr. Senelick served as the Medical Director of Encompass Health in San Antonio, Texas for 30 years. He is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Senelick writes a blog on health care related issues for the Huffington Post and The Atlantic. In addition Dr. Senelick is the Stroke Community Expert for WebMD, the largest source of online health information.

He is a frequently sought after speaker both nationally and internationally. Amongst his many books and publications, he has authored Living with Stroke: A Guide for Patients and Families, Living with Brain Injury: A Guide for Families, and The Spinal Cord Injury Handbook.

Objectives: The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge/competence, and upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
  • Explain the difference between rehabilitation at an IRH versus a SNF
  • Review studies that compare IRH versus SNF
Additional Information: Target Audience:This course is designed for geriatricians, family and emergency physicians, and nurse practitioners. May also be of interest to physician assistants and other allied health professionals who encounter geriatric patients in a health care setting.
